Lawrence Bruce Simon, known fondly as “Larry,” age 57, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 24, 1959, Larry was the son of Howard and Toby (Lass) Simon. He owned and operated Meineke Muffler shops in both New Castle and Elsmere for many years.

Larry loved life and will always be remembered for his huge heart of gold. A devoted family man, he adored spending time with his loved ones. Larry will be remembered for his charming, outgoing personality and his beautiful, engaging smile.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Lauren Simon; son, Jonathan Simon; step-daughter, Angela Simon; former wife and dear friend, Rosemary Simon; brother, Eric Simon; sister, Beth Fox; niece, Taylor Fox; and 4 grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, November 2, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, all are asked to say a prayer for peace and comfort for the family.

  • This man taught me many things in life, but the most important thing is forgiveness. Larry was kind, loving and caring. A loving father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. What a journey he has had. May God have mercy on him and wrap His loving, forgiving arms around him.
