Lawrence R. Larry Mitchell, Jr., age 56, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 4, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Larry was born in Wilmington and was a proud graduate of McKean High School. He was a member of the New Castle Moose Lodge and belonged to Sheet Metal Local 19. One of Larry’s finest moments that he cherished was meeting Vice President Joe Biden.

He enjoyed going to his brother’s on New Years Eve and bringing gifts for his great niece and great nephews. Larry was an avid fisherman, enjoyed shooting pool and riding his Harley motorcycle and was a passionate Eagles fan -E!A!G!L!E!S! EAGLES!!

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence R Mitchell, Sr.; step-mother, Christina H. Mitchell; and step-sister, Peggy Clifton. Larry is survived by his fiance, Joni Devonshire and her daughter, Samantha; daughter, Faith Ann, mother, Elaine C. (Flowers) Mitchell, sisters, Christine McLane (Jim) and Marla Petty-Criddle (Jim); brother, John Mitchell (Kathy); step-sister, Kathy Burns (Bill); and his nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon, October 10, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm. Interment will be held privately.
