Lee T. Krauss
Mr. Lee T. Krauss, age 86, of Newark, DE, died on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Christiana Hospital.
Born in Modena, PA, on February 14, 1924, Mr. Krauss was the son of the late Margaret (Linderman) and Robert Krauss. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II as a medic in Italy and the European Theater. In civilian life, he made his career as a welder, retiring from Phoenix Steel as a foreman in 1979 after 37 1/2 years of service.
Following his retirement, Mr. Krauss and his wife, Anna E. Kellum Krauss, moved to Venice, FL, where they lived for 14 years. After her death in 1998, he returned to Delaware to live with his daughter. In his later years, he looked forward to visiting with his many friends at the Howard Weston Senior Center each day. He also enjoyed creating unique needlepoint Christmas card holders in the shape of fireplaces as special gifts for family and friends.
Mr. Krauss will be long remembered for his generous nature and the delight he took in fixing things for anyone in need of his expert help. Throughout his life, he particularly enjoyed caring for his pet dogs, including his three current pet Chihuahuas, and in earlier times, his favorite dog and good friend, the late CoCo.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Krauss was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret A. Peggy Malay, in 1994. He is survived by his daughter, Linda L. Alton (Jerry); brothers, Robert Krauss (Ethlene) and Elmer Krauss (Gladys); 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a great great grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 6 pm on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 4 pm. Interment will be held privately.
