Leo F. Nitchman
Mr. Leo F. Nitchman, age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at his home while surrounded by his family.
Born on February 10, 1926, in Hanover, PA, Mr. Nitchman was the son of the late Paul and Grace Nitchman. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Marine Corps. Upon his graduation from trade school, Mr. Nitchman began a career as an HVAC mechanic with Gulf Oil in Wilmington. He later worked for Angersteins in Elsmere and Jos. Frederick & Sons in Stanton.
Possessing a strong work ethic, Mr. Nitchman was known by all as an incredibly hard-working gentleman. He was an excellent handyman and could fix almost anything. Above all else, Mr. Nitchman will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith A. ONeal, and his sister, Eva Bortner. Mr. Nitchman is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anna M. Luckenbaugh Nitchman; his son, Steven F. Nitchman and wife, Lynne, of Wilmington; sister, Nadine Stuffle and husband, Raymond, of Hanover, PA; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, Nyla.
Funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Suite 100, Wilmington, DE 19810
