Leona Marie SautÃ©
Mrs. Leona Lee Marie Brophy Saut, age 73, formerly of New Castle, DE, and Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 16, 1936, daughter of the late Thomas Francis Brophy and Margaret Leona Brennan Brophy, Mrs. Saut was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Morton, PA. She made her career as one of the famed Kelly Girls with Kelly Temporary Services in Pennsylvania, New Castle County, and Sussex County until her retirement. With her husband, she also owned and operated the (former) Open Pantry in Newtown Square, PA. Active in her community, Mrs. Saut was a Life Member and past president (1976-77) of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company. She was a former member and cantor at Our Lady of Fatima parish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert James Saut, and a brother, Joseph Brophy. She is survived by siblings, Thomas Brophy of Haverford, PA; Jack Brophy of Ocean City, NJ; William Brophy of Bridgewater, NJ; Richard Brophy of Broomall, PA; James Brophy, Sr. of Broomall, PA; Elizabeth McClory of Ardmore, PA; and Margaret Brophy of Haverford, PA; and many beloved nieces and nephews and godchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Georges Cemetery on Kirkwood-St. Georges Road.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 645, New Castle, DE 19720.
