Leonard Scott Gardner, age 52, of Wilmington, DE, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

Born in Wilmington, DE on May 1, 1965, Scott was a son of James Len Gardner and Janet (Hurd) Gardner. He worked for his family at Rockford Exxon in Wilmington until 1990, after which time he moved to New York to start a family of his own.

Scott loved cars, played the trumpet, knew the name of every airplane that flew overhead, and excelled at shooting pool. He adored watching the sunsets while sitting on the cliffs at Crystal Beach Manor. A loving father, brother, son, and friend, Scott had heart of gold and will be very dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Curtis Jakob Gardner of Hockessin; brothers, John Gardner of Fort Wayne, IN and Glen Gardner of Wilmington; friend and former wife, Deborah Mannis-Gardner of Hockessin; nephews, Jonah Scher of Boulder, CO and Ben and Patrick Deleon of Auburn, IN; and nieces, Molly Scher of Denver, CO and Shawna Gardner of Milwaukee, WI.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday morning, July 1, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Lombardy Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
