Leroy Covington Baynum III
Born September 20, 1954
Leroy Covington Lee Baynum III, age 59, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 19, 2014.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware on September 20, 1954, Lee was the son of the late Leroy C. Baynum, Jr. and Barbara J. Folk Baynum.
An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite team each season. Lee was also a passionate NASCAR fan who closely followed the sport. He grew up at the beach and loved spending time there. Lee was happiest in the company of his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Baynum. Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Cindy Lewis Baynum; son, Charlie Baynum; daughters, Jennifer Hayes and Renae Baynum; 3 grandchildren, Jaime Lewis, Jenna Bentley and Zach Hayes; and a great granddaughter, Lilly Ford.
Family and friends may visit from 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday evening, June 25, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Services and interment in Bethel Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lee’s name may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #083, 68 Danvers Circle, Newark, DE 19702.
