Lewis Harvey Reynolds, Sr.

Lewis Harvey Reynolds, Sr., age 73, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2015.
A native Delawarean, Lewis was born in Wilmington on July 22, 1941, and was a son of the late Charles Reynolds and Caroline (Matson) Reynolds. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. A career jockey, Lewis rode competitively for over 15 years. He loved horses and the racing community and once his career ended, would continue his work at Delaware Park, where he was most recently employed.
In his leisure time, Lewis enjoyed buying and selling antiques. He was happiest in the company of his beloved family, whom he adored and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Reynolds; children, April Reynolds, Tina Miller, Lewis Reynolds, Jr. and Jason Reynolds; 3 step children; 1 brother; 5 sisters; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 4 step grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 pm until 4 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, c/o Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.

Lew Reynolds will be missed by his friends and associates as an honest man and a friend to all. Although sick for a long time, Lew had a great spirit and always had a good word. We knew Lew and Joyce from working with them at Aunt Margaret’s Antique Mall in Newark where they were known for fair dealing and his friendly, outgoing nature.
