Lillian May Rynkowski
Mrs. Lillian May Rynkowski, age 84, of Newark, DE, died on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Kent General Hospital in Dover.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Rynkowski was born in Wilmington on July 2, 1925, daughter of the late Harry V. Roberts and Ellie Willis Roberts. After retiring from a local box factory in the early 1970s, she embarked on a second career as a foster grandmother with Maclary School in Newark. Her lifelong love of children, her kindness, and her personal warmth made her a great favorite of students and teachers alike.
In her leisure hours, Mrs. Rynkowski enjoyed gardening around her home and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored. She is survived by her sons, Henry S. Rynkowski, Jr. and his wife, Karen; and Mark S. Rynkowski; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, Edward E. Wolfe, Sandra L. West, and Denise M. Lilley.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 8, 2010, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
