Linda L. Staton

June 24, 1950 - August 24, 2013

Linda L. Staton, age 63, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

A native Delawarean, Linda was born in Wilmington on June 24, 1950, daughter of the late Helen Keller Marker and Raymond E. Marker. For 27 years she made her career in the human resources department of General Chemical in Claymont, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She had also been happily employed for a time with Clement Communications, Inc., a sign manufacturing firm in Pennsylvania.
Linda greatest passions in life were her faith and her family. A longtime member of Atonement United Methodist Church in Claymont, she was active in a variety of church ministries for many years. She devoted her life to caring for her beloved family, delighting especially in time spent with her precious granddaughters. A true and loving family matriarch, she possessed a great strength of character, an unflagging commitment to helping others, and a constant dedication to doing right. This is the beautiful and lasting legacy that she leaves to the many people who were touched by her kindness and compassion.
She is survived by her daughter and closest friend, Jennifer L. Smith of Claymont; Jennifer’s husband, Dennis Roy Smith, Jr.; brother, Raymond E. Marker of Turtle Creek, TX; sister, Nancy J. Marker of Newark; and granddaughters, Anastasiya M. Smith, Tatiana C. Smith, and Natalya R. Smith. She was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda E. Hartzel.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, August 30th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Linda’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
