Linnie Rose McMillan
Mrs. Linnie Rose (Brooks) McMillan, much beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, age 84, of New Castle, DE, left this world to join her Lord in heaven on Friday, July 15, 2011.
Born in Lansing, NC, on July 26, 1926, Linnie Rose was the daughter of the late Robert Brooks and Etta Catherine Peg Powers Brooks. The family would later move to Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the first graduating class of the new Kennett High School in 1944. A talented homemaker, she devoted her life to caring for her beloved family.
Linnie Rose was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of New Castle and delighted in attending church services, Bible study classes, and prayer circle meetings. She greatly enjoyed reading her Bible each day and listening to Christian music.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Paul Wilson McMillan, in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Tabor and her husband, Larry, of New Castle; her grandsons, David Tabor of New Castle and Robert Tabor and his wife, Traci, of New Castle; her most cherished great granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Tabor; her sisters-in-law, Helen Jamison and Ethel Hunter of Kennett Square, PA; her brother-in-law, Willard McMillan and his wife, Lucille, of Moultrie, GA; her nieces and nephews; her dear friends, Peggy and Lou Brandi of Smyrna and Arlene and Kenny Orner of New Castle; and many other loving friends too numerous to name.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of New Castle, 901 E. Basin Road (Rts. 273 & 141), New Castle, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
