Lois Jean Reynolds

Born September 14, 1951

Lois Jean Reynolds, lovingly known by all as Lo age 62, of Townsend, DE passed away February 14, 2014 surrounded by her family.

Born September 14, 1951 in Wilmington, Delaware, to Orville M. Steele and L. Jean Steele, Lois was a graduate of William Penn High School. She made her career with Avon Products where she worked as a secretary for 23 years until her retirement.

Lo was an avid baseball fan, traveling often to watch her beloved Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and collecting antiques. Lo loved country western shows, music and line-dancing with her companion, Gary Langille of New Castle, DE. Quick with a smile and laugh, she dedicated her time to helping various women’s charities as well as events to raise awareness and funding for cancer research. She received numerous awards and recognition for her service and dedication to the community.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Orville Steele, and her daughter, Jennifer Yates.

She is survived by her daughter, Torie Baker and husband Bruce of Townsend, DE; son James Adams of Newark, DE; grandchildren Christina, Tayler, Zack, Abigail, Elizabeth, Avery, Caden and Ryder. Lo had a large extended family and was blessed with too many friends to mention, all of whom offered support during her illness and to whom the family is forever grateful.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lois’ name may be made to Relay for Life, 92 Reads Way #205, New Castle, DE 19720 or to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.

  • Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lo’s loved ones, who she cherished with all her being. You made her journey through this terrible disease as tolerable and comfortable as you possibly could. Showering her with love and laughter and making sure her bucket list was fulfilled. Many blessings to you all.

Our hearts are all the richer for having had Lo in our lives. Our daily chats at work, sharing life stories as we walked endless miles preparing for the Avon Breast Cancer 3 day walk. The joy and pride we shared as we walked across the finish line. Her memory will remain in our hearts, her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh, her caring and giving spirit and I will always smile as I think of night we sang every song together at Ringo’s concert. Godspeed, dear Lo, until we meet again, RIP.

  • Lo, it was tuff to watch you the last couple years as your health deteriorated but you always had a smile or a laugh, if I could help it. I miss the days when we would occasionally double-date and go out and have a good time and do some Boot Scoot and Boogie, as you always liked country music, line dancing and having fun. I am glad that your suffering has stopped and I hope that you have rejoined with your family that has gone before you. Keep watch over the rest of us that are still here to live the life we are destined too. Thanks for the Memories.

  • My thoughts and prays of sympathy go out to Lios’ family. From one baseballl fan to another. Lois and I would talk about baseball and her love of the Atlanta Braves and would look forward to the baseball season. We worked together at Avon and I think of her often.

  • My heart reaches out to Lois’ family and friends. Lois was a wonderful person and loved life. You could especially see how proud and loving she was when she talked about her family. I will always remember our talks and laughs we had together. I always think about the times we would take a half day off for our birthdays and go to lunch and see a movie together (just us girls).
