Loretta F. Woods, age 61, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Loretta was born in Aberdeen, MD on October 11, 1955, and was the daughter of James J. Woods, Sr. and the late Loretta F. (DiPlacido) Woods.

She was raised in Newark, graduated from Saint Mark’s High School in 1973 and attended the University of Delaware. She was employed by Bell Atlantic for many years, lived in Marcus Hook, PA and spent the past 15 years in Rehoboth Beach. Lorrie was an avid field hockey and softball player in high school, and played on a number of women’s softball leagues for various teams in Delaware and Delaware County, PA. She was a long time faithful fan of the Washington Redskins.

She is survived by her father, James, Sr.; siblings, James J. Woods, Jr., Thomas E. Woods (Jennifer), Christine M. Walker and Frank M. Woods; 8 nieces and nephews; 1 great niece and 2 great nephews; and her faithful companion, Griffon.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday evening, February 24, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Whimsical Animal Rescue/Sussex County Animal Association, c/o SCAA, P.O. Box 1697, Seaford, DE 19973.
