Louise Bell Snead

May 21, 1931 - March 22, 2016

Louise Bell Snead, known affectionately as Sadie, age 84, of Newport, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

Born in Yorklyn, DE on May 21, 1931, Sadie was a daughter of the late William G. Pyle, Sr. and Louise B. (Berry) Pyle. She was a member of the Newark High School graduating class of 1949. As a young woman she was a competitive skater and her competitive nature turned to bowling. She enjoyed the thrill of victory and not so much defeat. In addition to raising her family, Sadie worked as a payment processing clerk with the former Beneficial Bank in Wilmington and later as a cashier at the former McCrory’s in Stanton. She was an avid reader, enjoyed making ceramics and cooking in her leisure time. Her tomato soup cake was like no other! Sadie adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she cherished. She will be remembered for her kind and loving nature and for her fond affinity for M&M’s. She will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Sadie was preceded in death by her son, Keith and sister, Shirley Fair. She is survived by her children, Richard N. Snead of Middletown, OH, Sandra L. Greenfield of Manchester, NH, Gary S. Snead (Lisa) of Middletown, OH, Pamela J. Cichocki of Middletown, DE and Mendy A. McLaren (Don) of Bear, DE; siblings, William Pyle, Jr.(Eydie) of Milford, DE and Carol Hibbitts (Bob) of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Keith, Jennifer, Alise, Rachel, Erin, Kevin, Corey, Melanie, Gabby, Allison, Sara; and 5 great grandchildren.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 1pm on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sadie’s memory may be made to Seasons Hospice of Delaware, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713 or to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
