Lucille Clara Peteah, age 84, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by her family on Monday, October 5, 2015.

Born in Luzerne, PA on May 12, 1931, Lucille was a daughter of the late Alex Zarnoch and Veronica (Trycoski) Zarnoch. She was a member of the Duryea High School (PA) graduating class of 1949. In addition to caring for her family, she worked part-time as a cashier for a variety of local stores. Lucille loved her work which allowed her to call upon her natural skills as a true people person.

She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church in New Castle. In her leisure time, Lucille looked forward to taking trips to Delaware Park, loved to dance and enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk on Saturdays. Her beautiful smile touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Kashuda. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, George Peteah; daughter, Joyce Ann Peteah; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Friday morning, October 9, 2015, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

  • I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Peteah. I only knew her briefly during her time at Arbors for rehab. I worked with her for a few weeks, and she was a very sweet woman.
