Lucille G. (Richards) Shepheard, age 89, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Friday, February 6, 2015.

Born in White Haven, PA on July 2, 1925, Lucille was a daughter of the late Frederick Richards and Gertrude (Forschner) Richards. She was a talented homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family.

A longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, Lucille was very active within her congregation. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening in her leisure time. Lucille was happiest in the company of her beloved family and especially enjoyed being surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G. Robert Shepheard, Sr., brother, John Richards, sisters, Ruth Fensternmacher, Henrietta Valente, Gertrude Keiper and Frances Hauze. She is survived by her children, G. Robert Shepheard, Jr. of New Castle, DE, Diane L. McCloskey (Edward) of Westfield, NJ, Lois A. Rodgers (Samuel) of Midlothian, VA, Laurie K. Banaszak (Steven) of New Castle, DE, Rollin R. Shepheard (Deborah) of New Castle, DE and Randy S. Shepheard (Margaret) of Middletown, DE; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a great granddaughter who is expected in June.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday morning, February 11, 2015, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 300 E. Basin Road, New Castle, DE 19720, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, at the address listed above.
