7 Condolences for Mabel E. Loyd

  • Aunt Mabel was also a loving Aunt! She always made sure to send a birthday card, with a handwritten note, and a Christmas card , with a note.
My first trip without my parents was to see Aunt Mabel, Uncle Bob, and Great Grandma. My sister and I went with our grandparents (her brother Noble and wife Ruth). That was also my first airplane flight. I remember peanut butter and fluff sandwhiches for lunch, after swimming all day at the neighbors pool. We even went bowling! It was also the first time I shot a gun… I missed the “pigeon” but my sister hit it
    on her first try.
OH- the most important FIRST was- driving to Newark for the wedding when I was 2 years old. My grandpa, Noble (Mable’s oldest brother) thought I was the best traveler in the world. Til the day he passed, anytime he introduced me to someone new, he would say with a twinkle, “That little Dickens
rode all the way from Illinois to Delaware, straight through and never asked for a thing or complained. She is a little Dickens.”
Thanks, Aunt Mabel and Uncle Bob for all the “firsts” you provided…and the great story for Grandpa to tell about me for 37 years. Say, “HI” to him for me. Love you and will miss you. Donna
PS- Now when I write you so many notes in my head all day, and then don’t get them all typed and sent, you will now get to hear them all and share Wyoming with me (when you come to visit!). xoxoxxxx

  • A part of numbed today when reading of the passing of Mrs. Loyd. She was a “second mother” to me for so many years as I was growing up and always was there for me when I needed her, even when I became an adult. Heaven is so much richer now with her in attendance and watching down over us we will still never be alone. I pray she is visiting with all the friends and family that went before her and to know she is no longer suffering or in any pain is of great comfort. She was such a wonderful lady that truly knew the meaning of Love and God, both of which she showed everyday. She and Mr. Loyd were two of the most amazing, wonderful and loving people I have ever had the blessing of knowing. Although it has been a while since I visited them my memories are strong in my mind and I will always miss her and think of them with sweetness, kindness and love. May God Bless you Mr. Loyd and Gena, Barb & Bev may you each know the love I feel for your parents and each of you. You three were the sisters I never had. With much love, sympathy and peacefulness for each of you. God Bless
