Margaret A. White, age 105, of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017 after a long and fulfilling life.

Born on February 6, 1912 in Boston, MA, she was a daughter of the late Howard Lowther and Anna (Smith) Lowther.

A woman of strong faith, Margaret was a member of Victory Church in New Castle for many years. She was also a life member of the Minquadale Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Margaret was an avid Phillies’ fan and looked forward to cheering on her favorite team every game. Throughout her life, she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard H. White; daughter, Ima Evick; grandson, Jeff Evick; and a sister, Eleanor Moore . She is survived by her loving son, Richard C. White (Leslie); brother, John Lowther; granddaughter, Denise Evick; grandsons, Mike Evick (Vicki), Bob Evick (Robin) and Frank Evick; granddaughter-in-law, Sue Evick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes, 1000 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Longwood Cemetery, 945 E. Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, PA 19348.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Minquadale Ladies Auxiliary, P. O. Box 647, New Castle, DE 19720-0647.

  • I remember when I called Margaret(Mommom and also Ms. America). She was like a grandmother to me also. I loved spending time with her and just talking. I will always remember the fun times we had and will always love her with all my heart. Love you always to infinity and beyond. April Walton
