Margaret B. Hackenberg
Margaret B. Hackenberg, age 89, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2014.
Born in Federalsburg, Maryland on September 26, 1925, Margaret was the daughter of the late Guy Wheatley and Bessie Donovan Wheatley. She worked as a waitress for over 50 years, including 30 years of dedicated service to the patrons of the former Gamiel’s in Wilmington.
Margaret enjoyed spending time in her garden and being outdoors. She held a special place in her heart for animals of all kinds and adored her faithful feline companion, Peaches, whom she fondly called her son. A loving and devoted wife, sister and friend, Margaret will be remembered as a kind and gentle person and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren G. Pete Hackenberg and a brother, Raymond Mac Wheatley. Margaret is survived by her brothers, John Wheatley and Gary Truitt; her caregiver, Danielle Ferry-Popo; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Friday afternoon, October 24, 2014, at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

So sorry to hear about Margaret. I lived and was raised behind Margaret and Pete’s house at 117 BuckLa. They were always nice to me since they never had any children of their own. I remember when Pete took me and his new 56 Plymouth 100 MPH on our way to Margarets homestead in Maryland.Anyway Margaret was always a nice lady but very quiet. Rest in peace sweet lady.
