Margaret (Boyd) Kauffman

March 27, 1937 - January 18, 2019

Margaret (Boyd) Kauffman , age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday January 18, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Maggie was born to Arthur and Laura Boyd in West Grove, PA on March 27, 1937. Maggie graduated from Kennett High School in 1955.

Maggie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, Grammy and friend. Like those written about in love stories, she shared her life with her best friend and love, Roger. She couldn’t be more proud of her children and grandchildren and the way she lived her life was a glowing example for all of them.

There wasn’t a creative art that Maggie didn’t excel at ““ from sewing, crochet, stuffed bears, holiday decorations, drawing, and painting. She had a strong sense of fashion and interior decoration that was the envy of many. She was an animal lover (horses, dogs, birds and she was the occasional squirrel chaser!) and loved gardening. There is a place for everything and everything in its place! She loved anything and everything that brought family and friends together. Many hours were spent playing games like Scrabble, train dominos, and Michigan Rummy. Rumor has it, she was once a Cards Against Humanity champion. A true “night owl” she would come to life around midnight and that’s when most of the storytelling and laughter happened. She was a lifelong friend to many and enjoyed many years in both a couple’s and woman’s bridge club. She was an amazing cook and lover of beautiful beaches, good food and Rhine wine with ice to crunch. She was happiest around a table sharing jumbo crabs, pitchers of beer and Old Bay fries with friends and family.

Maggie lived each day to its fullest, and this world was blessed to have had her. She will live on in the hearts and souls of all those who loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Roger Kauffman, Sr.; her children, Roger, Jr., (Nicole) of Zionsville, IN, Jeff (Mary Roche) of Leominster, MA, Greg of Elkton, MD and Dawn Connelly (Chris) of Paradise Valley, AZ; her brother, Arthur Boyd, Jr (Lynn); and sister, Patricia Boyd; her grandchildren, Nathalie Kauffman, Laura Kauffman, Kristopher Kauffman, Mark Kauffman, Sean Roche, Michelle Roche, Samantha Roche, Kyle Fox, Aaron Fox, Brendan Connelly and Keegan Connelly.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a Celebration of Life will begin at 12 noon. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, Inc. (https://tristatebird.givingfuel.com/support) or the International Essential Tremor Foundation https://www.essentialtremor.org/donate/
