Margaret M. Kline
Mrs. Margaret M. Kline, age 81, was called to her eternal home on Friday, April 29, 2011.
Born in Reading, PA, on January 18, 1930, Margaret was the daughter of the late John T. and Catherine (Kerschner) Gensemer. She later moved to Delaware, where she worked at the Wilmington Hospital in food services. During her 63-year marriage to the love of her life, LeRoy Wilson Kline, who left her side in 2009, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and being part of the restaurant business in New Castle at the Crossroads Diner and later at the Rehoboth Diner in Rehoboth Beach. She also kept busy in her family life and enjoyed creating lovely ceramic art pieces for many years.
When the couple moved to Dallas, TX, Margaret worked at Neiman Marcus. They returned to Delaware 20 years later to continue their life together in Milford. After losing her beloved husband, Margaret eventually pursued a lifelong dream of being a journalist and pioneered the community newsletter for Harbor Health Care Center in Lewes, where she resided until the time of her passing. She delighted most of all in spending time with her family and friends, including all the new friends she made at Harbor Health.
In addition to her parents, her beloved husband, LeRoy, and son, LeRoy Jr., Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, Jack, and sister, Vivian Gensemer. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan L. Berwick (Ronald) of Milford, and Joyce E. Garrick of Allen, TX; her brother, George Gensemer of the Philippines; her sister, Alice Epting of W. Reading, PA; her grandchildren, Jody L. Berwick da Silva (Luiz) of Dallas, TX, Jamie L. Berwick of Wellington, New Zealand, Matthew B. Garrick (Stephanie) and Danielle L. Garrick, both of Dallas, TX, and Michael Garrick of Florida; and great grandson, Patrick J. Varner, Jr. of Dallas, TX.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to provide care for Margarets daughter, Joyce, who is battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Contributions may be made to the Joyce Garrick Fund, c/o 913 S. DuPont Highway, Milford, DE 19963.
