Marian Enger Feeley - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Marian Enger Feeley

July 21, 1931 - January 27, 2014

On January 27, 2014, Marian passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family & friends. Born July 21,1931 in Schenectady NY to Peter and Jane (Fitzpatrick) Lewandowski, Marian was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and the Schenectady School of Business.

In 1950 she married Harold Enger and dedicated her time to raising their three daughters. The family lived in New Haven Connecticut, Washington Township NJ and finally settled in Newark, DE in 1969.

Marian cared deeply for her family & took pride in her immaculate home. She loved to entertain and was the proud hostess of countless neighborhood parties and family holiday celebrations.

Marian had a passion for politics & found her niche working at a local level. She was involved in several political campaigns and was elected president to every committee on which she served. Working closely with the Planning & Zoning Commissions, she was steadfast in her commitment to the City of Newark. No was not in her vocabulary.

In Oct 1990, Marian found love again and married William Feeley. Bill & Marian were a perfect fit. Their easy humor and mutual respect made them a couple people loved to be around. With a large blended family and a network of friends they treasured, they spent many happy years splitting their time between their homes in Newark & Bettertown, MD.

Marian is predeceased by her husband, Bill, her brother Peter and her beloved daughter Michele Stepchuck.

She is survived by her daughters Denise and Stacy and her grandchildren; Melissa (Jim), Kimberlee, Megan (Peter), Allison (Bob), Colin, Jake, Haley, Connor, Maggie and Tessa and great grandchildren, Warren & Brianna. Also left to remember her are her stepchildren; Peggy , Carolyn, Billy and Todd and their children, Ashley, Lauren, Morgan, Justin, Ella, Liam, and Brooke as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews and in-laws. Marian was blessed with too many friends to mention, all of whom offered unwavering support throughout her illness and to whom the family is forever grateful.

Marian will be remembered for her cutting wit, unfiltered observations of life, her chocolate pudding pie, perfectly manicured nails and her legendary story telling abilities. Never at a loss for words, her voice will be missed. If there is cake in heaven, Nana will be eating the corner pieces.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE, where friends may call from 10 am until 12 Noon. Interment will be held privately.

Flowers are welcome or the family suggests memorial contributions in Marian’s memory to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Second Floor, Newark, DE 19711.

  • To the Enger Feeley Family, My wife and I are very sorry to hear of the loss of your dear love one. We know this is a difficult time for you. We wanted to share something with you that has encouraged us during times like these. It is comforting to know that God never meant for us to experience this kind of pain.(James 1:13)(Romans 5:12) He has made provisions through his son Jesus to awaken our love ones asleep in death.(John 5:28,29) God has also promised to wipe away all tears, pain, sorrow, and death forever.(Revelation 21:4,5) These promises in the bible give us hope and comfort knowing we will soon see our love ones again.(Psalms 37:10,11&29) We pray that your family find peace and comfort in God’s promises for the future.
