Marian (Jones) Richards, age 88, of Smyrna, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on November 27, 1927, Marian was a daughter of the late Emrys and Elizabeth (Lewis) Jones. She was a graduate of GAR High School in Wilkes-Barre. In addition to raising her family, Marian made her career with Wilmington Trust, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
She was deeply proud of her Welsh heritage and enjoyed researching her ancestry. In her leisure time, Marian loved reading, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl G. Richards, who died in 2013; brother, William Jones; and sister, Jane Singley. Marian is survived by her children, Keith Richards, Diane Reynolds and husband, Howie, Elaine Poole and husband, Chuck and John Richards; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dorothy Bournes of Griswold Home Care and the staff of Delaware Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Marian.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday evening, January 7, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Friday morning, January 8, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marian’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711.
