Marie Jeanne Aurora Hudson
August 7, 1919 – November 8, 2017
Marie Jeanne Aurora (Paré) Hudson, age 98, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 with her loving children by her side. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Born in Saint-Raphaël, Quebec on August 7, 1919, Marie Jeanne was the last of thirteen children of the late Ferdinand Phillipe and Phelonise (Gaumond) Paré. At the age of 5, her family moved to Nashua, NH.
On October 18, 1941, Marie Jeanne married George Elwin Hudson, and together they raised 8 children. George’s job as a welder with Sunship relocated them to Chester, PA and later to Delaware City, DE where he was employed with Getty Oil Refinery.
Marie Jeanne will always be remembered for her attention to detail given with love, care, and a gracious smile. She loved her faith, cooking, gardening, big band music, and her chihuahua, Jolie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George E. Hudson , 12 siblings, and her daughter-in-law, Alice. Marie Jeanne is survived by her 8 children, Kathleen J. Hudson (Sr. Lawrence Therese OSFS), Michael G. Hudson, David V. Hudson, Steven M. Hudson (Collene), Victor C. Hudson (Judi), Peter (John Nastovich), Sandra E. Hudson (Trish Sullivan), and Gregory J. Hudson (Karen); 13 grandchildren, Selena Frye (Rick), Christine (fiance, Erich Krauss), Michael Jr. (partner, Brittany Linton), Kevin (Carol Ann), Kelly Busovsky (Luke), James (Shannon), Jeffrey (Jamie), Christopher (Kate), Patrick (Meghan), Cara Metcalfe (James), Phillip (partner, Kristen Chiari), Andrew (partner, Kelly Kendall), and Lauren (partner, James Elliott); 15 great grandchildren, Collin, Shane, Liam, Grace, Caedmon, Alexander, Anthony, Tristan, Colton, Jack, Grant, Ian, Jacob, Joseph, Justin, and 2 on the way.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday evening, November 14, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A second visitation will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Wednesday morning, November 15, 2017 at the St. Thomas More Oratory, 45 Lovett Avenue, Newark, DE where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
