Marie M. (Logue) Vivod, age 96, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016.
Marie was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 3, 1920, and was the daughter of John M. and Margaret (Burgess) Logue. She was a talented homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family.
Marie was a longtime and active member of the J. Allison O’Daniel VFW Post No. 475, where she served as past state president. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and coloring. Marie loved adding to her beautiful collection of dog figurines. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who will be very greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander J. Vivod; 5 sisters; and 1 brother. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Breeding (James) and Madonna Donna Marie Nichols; sister, Kathleen McCrery; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Saturday morning, December 3, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will be held at at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

I knew her as Aunt Donna. To me, she was a person of great warmth and generosity. As the senior Logue sister of seven girls plus one boy, she was given responsibility far beyond what today is called a normal childhood. The Great Depression of 1929 – 1939 molded her family together that would be felt for generations to come by future members. I remember her smile every time we met. The last occasion was in 2001 when she and her Delaware VA wives stayed at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center. I picked her up in the foyer and brought her to my home for dinner and to meet my wife and children. As always, she was very happy travelling around.
It’s hard for me to speak of Aunt Donna without mentioning her husband and my Uncle Al. Al was a brilliant electrical engineer who worked for the University of Delaware and lived close by, just across the railroad tracks in Newark, DE. He was in WWII as a Civil Engineer and reached the rank of Lt. Colonel in the US Army Corps of Engineers. Hence, Aunt Donna developed interest and dedicated participation in the Delaware Veterans Administration (VA) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Donna Marie and Patricia were her children and my older cousins. Only a few years older than me, they seemed to stand tall above all the Logue grandchildren. It never surprised me that they stayed close to their mother after their father passed. It saddens me to say farewell to Aunt Donna because of her warmth and kindness to all. From your Godson…
