Martha (Bigum) Craig

Martha (Bigum) Craig, age 96, of Newark, Delaware, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Barrington, New Jersey and in later years made homes in Mt. Ephraim, NJ, Columbia, SC and New Castle, DE before moving to Newark, DE in 1999.

Throughout her life Martha was active in the Methodist Church. While her children were young, she was active in the PTA and Boy/Girl Scout Troops, as well as several auxiliaries. She was employed for many years as a receptionist and dental assistant while living in Mt. Ephraim.

Martha enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, friends and neighbors. She conscientiously maintained a calendar book as a reminder to send cards and letters to family and friends for all occasions. Martha touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed and remembered by her family, friends and neighbors.

Martha is survived by her husband of 77 years, James; three children, Ronald (Carmen) Craig, Judith (Dave) Gage and Sandra Craig (the late Jack Penders); and was a loving grandmother to 11 and great-grandmother to 14.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where friends may visit with Martha’s family from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martha’s memory to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Second Floor, Newark, DE 19711.
