Martha D. Jensen, age 73, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Martha was born in Wilmington on June 24, 1941, and was a daughter of the late Gustave Wedman and Mary (Lloyd) Wedman. She enjoyed a long career with Acme Markets and worked in the deli department at the company’s University Plaza store for many years.

Known for her exceptional culinary skills, Martha adored preparing delicious meals for family and friends. She was an avid yard sale hostess in her leisure time. An adoring and loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, Martha was happiest in the company of her loved ones. She will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Margaret Tibbett and Helen Abe. She is survived by her children, Larry Jensen, Kenneth Jensen and Bonnie Kirby (David); grandchildren, Candie Baldridge, Mark Guthrie, Laura Guthrie and David Kirby, Jr.; and great granddaughter, Cheyenne Guthrie.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday morning, May 23, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Martha’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Martha’s passing. She was such a nice person. Always cheerful and always fun to be with. Now that she is in Jesus’ loving arms, she has found the peace we all yearn for. Rest in peace.
