Mary Dolores Piscitelli
Mary Dolores Piscitelli (DeMaise) Age 88, of New Castle, DE, departed this life surrounded by her family, on August 7, 2011. Mary was born on July 9, 1923 to the late Julia and Dominick DeMaise of Philadelphia, PA. Mary was a kind, gentle and caring soul, who brought so much joy into the lives of those she touched. She was forever a peacemaker and eternal optimist. Mary was a devoted mother, wife and exceptional grandmother, whose unconditional love of family was boundless. Her interests included the music of Frank Sinatra, dancing and watching classic Hollywood films. Her two proudest moments were graduating from Philadelphias West Catholic Girls High School in 1941, and becoming a mother and grandmother. She also loved just being Italian. She performed her patriotic duty during World War II, as an employee at the Frankford Arsenal, in Philadelphia. Mary was a life-long Roman Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New Castle, since 1955. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother, to whom she turned for spiritual guidance. In recent years, Mary embraced St. Padre Pio for additional strength and comfort. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, of 33 years, John R. Piscitelli and her brother, Louis DeMaise of Cinnaminson, NJ. Mary is survived by her daughters Margaret M. Piscitelli of New Castle, Cynthia M. Bent (Peter) of Newark; the light of her life, grandson Matthew J. Alphin of Newark; and her beloved dog Buddy. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Marie Giorla of Philadelphia, PA and Anne Rae of Blackwood, NJ; brother Victor DeMaise of Maple Shade, NJ and many nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to her as Aunt Dee Dee.
