Born January 9, 1918

Mary G. Mackiewicz, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2016, at her residence in Newark, DE.

Born in Tazwell County, VA on January 9, 1918, Mary was one of 12 children of the late Richard Thomas and Patty Columbia (Asbury) Crouse. She made her career as a plant operations supervisor at the University of Delaware, retiring after 37 years of dedicated service.

Mary will be remembered for her ever present loving spirit, generosity to others and witty sense of humor. Her greatest passions were camping, gardening, andspending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband, Francis S. Mackiewicz; and daughter, Patricia Verucci. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Newton of Seffner, FL, Frances Johnson (Wayne) of Elkton, MD and Antoinette Burke (Thomas) of Newark; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 29, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

    You was such a wonderful lady, I really enjoyed spending time with you and listening to your stories. Also my childhood memories camping and visiting with you were always a lot of fun. You are the last piece of the Crouse Family I will miss you, please give Mom-mom a kiss from me. I love you and will see you again one day.

    Sorry I can not be there .I know she will be missed by all who knew her .She lived an active and busy life .we had the great fortune to travel a lot .Camping. Family reunions .How many trips to Pa and always a stop at Dunkin Donuts for coffee and a Donut before we all started back If it was lunch time it meant I trip to KFC So many memories ..She is in heaven now with so many loved ones .all I would ask of her would be Give hugs and kisses to my Sister Patsy my nephews Butch and Bobby my Sons Donnie and Patrick and my great grandson Ashton .Tell my Daddy how much we have missed him .Give Francis a big hug for us ..I know God was waiting for her and the angels were singing .

  • It was such a honor to spend the last hours with you. To be there when you left this world and went to Heaven.I Loved every moment we got together.Camping with you was where most of our memories srart. Watching you get out there dig ditches,play in your garden. You were a rock. You were always there to listen to our stories. We will miss bringing our new grandbabies to you to love on. You loved every minute . They loved all the stories you would tell. You will live always in my heart and my family will always tell of your love.
