September 26, 1943 - February 2, 2016

Marylou Mongiello, age 72, of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in the care of Season’s Hospice at Christiana Care.

Born in Darby, Pennsylvania on September 26, 1943, Mary was a daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Burke.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her beloved son, Richard Purfield, Jr.; brothers, Tommy, Bobby, and Larry; sisters, Irene, and Rita.

Mary is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Al; daughter, Debbie (Purfield); sons, Darryl (Denise) Purfield, Jason Mongiello; grandchildren, Amanda and Lauren Purfield, Jayden Mongiello; brother, Danny; sisters, Rosemarie, Betty Ann, and Kitsy.

Marylou was most proud of her family. She loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Marylou loved nothing more than spending time walking with Al in the yard enjoying their garden, plants, and flowers. She particularly loved the backyard hill flowers and plants. Marylou always appreciated the view over the hill into the parkland and river, taking in all of nature’s beauty. She also enjoyed her time spent in Bethany Beach, especially the late afternoons spent on the sand. Marylou will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends, but will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday evening, February 11, 2016, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A committal service and interment will be held in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 South Sproul Road, Springfield, PA, on Friday morning, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 am.
