May Colene Scott
Mrs. May Colene Scott, age 69, of New Castle, DE, died on Monday, September 20, 2010, after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Bassett, VA, on May 7, 1941, Colene spent her young adult life working for the family business and raising her three sons. She went to work with a group of orthopaedic surgeons, which eventually became Delaware Orthopaedic Center, retiring in 2003 after over 30 years of service. A talented homemaker and loving wife to Harvey for 51 years, she had a great love for all her family, including her daughter-in-law, Cindy, and her great granddaughter.
Colene loved birds and butterflies and spent numerous hours in her backyard tending to her backyard feeders identifying the many species of visitors. She always looked forward to the Hodges Family reunion down south in September and the newest Scott Family reunion in October at her sister-in-laws, Joyce. She also enjoyed camping trips and spending time with her great granddaughter, Anna Marie.
She was preceded in death by her father, James William Hodges, and step-father, Ted Uniatowski. She is survived by her mother Lena (Hodges) Uniatowski; her husband of 51 years, Harvey William Scott, Jr.; her children, Harvey William Scott III and his wife, Cindy, James Michael Scott and his wife, Tina, and Jeffrey Alan Scott; her brother, James Malcolm Hodges and his wife, Carol, and their children; her sister, Elizabeth Gail Smith and her children; stepbrothers, Ted Uniatowski and his wife, Sandy, Joe Uniatowski, and Tony Uniatowski and his wife, Carol; stepsisters, Diane Rutkowski and Marylyn (Uniatowski) Maroney and her husband, Terry, and their children; her grandson, Harvey Scott IV (Jennifer Bender); her great granddaughter, Anna Marie Scott; and her stepgrandchildren, Jacob Siekierda, Aida, and Aurionna.
Funeral services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made payable to Delaware Hospice, c/o 1960 Wheatleys Pond Road, Smyrna, DE 19977. Contributions will be used to purchase a Friends of Colene Scott brick on the Delaware Hospice Walk of Honor located at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.
