Mayrene H. Taylor, age 93, of Clayton, DE, passed away peacefully from this earth at her son’s home, on Wednesday, November 13, 2013.
Born in Carnesville, GA on March 14, 1920, Mayrene was a daughter of the late Melzar C. Harris and Sarah Lou Woody Harris. She later attended Elim Bible School, where she met her future husband, Floyd. The two were married on March 6, 1939 in Leichester, VT, and together, shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 1989. Mayrene was a talented homemaker, and dedicated her life to caring for her beloved family.
She attended the Assembly of God Church in Newark. Mayrene was an accomplished baker and delighted in creating delicious treats for friends and family to enjoy. She was an avid gardener and relished time spent outdoors tending to her flowers and plants. Above all else, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Taylor; sister, Della Harris; and brothers, James Harris, Clyde Harris and Cleo Harris. She is survived by her children, Floyd R. Taylor, Jr., Barbara T. Sousa, Nelson Taylor (Lil), and David A. Taylor (Sherri), with whom she lived; sister, Anna Hopkins; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment will be held privately. Mayrene will be laid to rest next to her husband in White Clay Creek Cemetery, Newark, DE.
