Mazie Rena Wooters

Born November 29, 1932

Mazie Rena Wooters, age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family on Monday, September 7, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Mazie was born in Wilmington on November 29, 1932, and was a daughter of the late Lee Jamison and Minnie (Adamson) Jamison. She made her career with the U.S. Postal Service where she worked as a clerk until her retirement.

Deeply connected to her family, Mazie adored caring for her loved ones and looked forward to spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she cherished. She loved entertaining guests at her home and pool. In her leisure time, Mazie enjoyed reading, watching the Food Network and bowling with her husband, Ray, sister, Kay and brother in law, Shrimp. She spent many happy hours camping and traveling with her husband over the years. Above all else, Mazie will be long remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and gg mom and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rena Childers; daughter in law, Beverly Wooters; siblings, Bill Semple, James Jamison, Lee Jamison, Dorian Semple, June Hager and Katherine M. Aiello; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Morris. Mazie is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Horace Raymond Wooters; children, Phillip L. Vavala, Raymond H. Wooters and Susan M. Wooters; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday evening, September 11, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday morning, September 12, 2015 at the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2200 N. DuPont Parkway, where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mazie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or to the Delaware Kidney Fund, 1100 Lovering Avenue, Ste. 10-B, Wilmington, DE 19806.

    Just want to say thanks for everything you ever did for Rena,Ray,Sue and myself. You’ll AWAYS be thought of, ALWAYS. I know it was a hard road this past year but you as always were the fighter until the end and that’s something I’ll always remember. I miss you. Love and remembered always, your loving son Phil.
