Mrs. Melinda S. Allebach, age 60, of Middletown, DE, died suddenly on Friday, February 4, 2011 at her home.
Born in Lafayette, IN, on April 19, 1950, Mrs. Allebach was the daughter of the late Calvin W. Vriesen and Mary I. Biggs. She graduated from Christiana High School and then went on to receive her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from the University of Delaware. Mrs. Allebach worked as a registered nurse for Union Hospital, retiring after many years of dedicated service to her patients.
Mrs. Allebach was a member of Glasgow Church, where she enjoyed singing in the churchs choir. In her leisure hours, she greatly enjoyed watching her daughter, Heidis skating competitions. Mrs. Allebach was a talented needle worker and proudly displayed her creations throughout her home. She was an avid figurine collector as well. Above all, Mrs. Allebach was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, who adored spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael L. Allebach, who died in 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Heidi L. Iannuzzi and husband, Anthony, Jr., of Cinnaminson, NJ and Heather L. King and her husband, Brandon, of Amesville, OH; brother, Jonathon Vriesen of Newark, DE; and grandchildren, Piper Ryleigh King and Anthony J. Iannuzzi, III.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., at Glasgow Church, 2880 Summit Bridge Rd., Bear, DE 19701 where friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
