Michael Eugene Harris

Born May 14, 1963

Michael Eugene Harris, age 51, of New Castle, DE, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 16, 2014.

Born in Kingwood, WV on May 14, 1963, Mike was a son of Lewis Henry Harris and Sandra Jean Schillenberg Quillen (Robert) and the dear son-in-law of Robert and Anne Markey. He worked as a meat cutter at various local grocery stores for the last 30 years.

Mike was a die hard Dallas Cowboy’s fan. In his leisure time, he greatly enjoyed fishing. Mike was a wonderful husband and father and especially loved spending time with his two grandsons, whom he adored. He was an exceptionally caring and giving person and to honor his legacy, his family made the difficult yet generous decision to allow Mike to be an organ donor for the Gift of Life program.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathleen Margaret (Markey) Harris; daughters, Colleen Harris (Jamar) and Kassandra Harris (Frank); brother, Lewis W. Harris (Maria); sister, Karen Byrne; grandsons, Cameron Munch and Jamarion JR; special nephew, Shannon; a host of family and friends; and several additional nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday afternoon, August 22, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm. Interment will be held privately in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
