Michael R. Bellafore, age 27, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 27, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Michael was born in Wilmington on December 21, 1987 and was a son of William J. and Patricia A. Bellafore. He was a graduate of McKean High School and received both his bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in finance from Goldey Beacom College. After completing his education, Michael accepted a position with Bank of America, where he was employed as an accounting specialist for the past 3 years.

An avid swimmer in his youth, he competed with both the Arundel and McKean High School swim teams. Michael gave of his time and talents in his community as a volunteer for Special Olympics of Delaware and Habitat for Humanity. He was happiest in the company of his family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with them at the beach.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, William. He is survived by his mother, Patricia; siblings, Matthew Parker (Myly), Joey Bellafore (Katie) and Ellise Bellafore; uncle, Bobby Isakoff (Stephanie); and nephews, Sebastian and Joey.

A funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday evening, October 1, 2015, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to Special Olympics Delaware, 619 South College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716.

  • Used to hang around the neighborhood with you and Casey as children–even though we went to different middle schools we hung out almost daily.
