  • So sorry for your loss. Heart to all of you. When times are tough wrap yourself in a warm memory. Mike had a great heart. I can remember him picking me up at school sometimes when I was little, he was my first boss at the tackle box, he will truly be missed by many. If there is anything at all I can do please let me know.

  • Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear. Michael will remain with you forever and always.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who knew, loved and shared time with Michael.

  • Stephanie and Ted, we are so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. Please know that we are thinking about you during this difficult time. He will always be in your hearts and memories.

  • My heart goes out to you Theresa, Brian, Stephanie, Susan and Mike’s wonderful daughters. Mike was a hard working man with a big heart! Mike gave my dad the opportunity to hang out and help out in a bait store after he retired. He loved that store and helping out where he could. Mike provided my dad and son Michael and his good friends wonderful memories of fishing for BUBBA in the pond at his house in Middletown. Those are precious memories that will never be forgotten thanks to you. May you find peace and comfort in your father’s arms. You will be loved and missed forever.

  • Mike will always be remembered!!….he was a great teammate and a great pitcher in winning the state championship baseball titles for William Penn in 1977 and 1978 and leading Stahl Post American Legion to World Series in 1976…..Never forgotten “P” your beloved by all your former teammates!!!

  • I am pleased to have met Mike P as we referred to him at the HibbertGroup. I’m sad he’s no longer with us but glad he suffers no more. Please except my condolence.

  • Rest in peace, Mike

  • Mike was a great coworker and friend. Everyone here at The Hibbert Group is beside themselves. He had huge heart. He helped anyone who needed it. We will miss him dearly and remember him fondly.

  • I had the pleasure of working with Mike at the Hibbert Group for many years. He was one of those rare employees who would give more than he had to give freely. He was loved and respected by all of his co workers. He battled his illness as hard as opposing hitters on the baseball diamond I would imagine. Rest assured, he is the type of man that God welcomes into his kingdom with opened arms and I’m sure he has his place picked out where he will wait for all of us. He was a terrific man and I am glad my life was blessed in knowing him. He will truly be missed.

  • Michael Ray was an amazing man. I had the honor to work with him and he always made my day a little brighter. I loved hearing updates about his family, so very proud of his children. He will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathy for Mike’s family/friends.

  • I have such a fond memory of Mike taking me on one of my first “real” dates. It was my 16th birthday in April, 1976. He took me out to a restaurant for dinner, somewhere down Rte. 40. His sweet mother drove us and picked us up. I remember us singing and listening to “You’re Sixteen, You’re Beautiful” by Ringo Starr in the car. I think he even brought me a flower or corsage! I am so sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you.

  • Prayers to all of Mike’s family…especially his Mom, daughters, brother Brian and you Steph.I knew Mike as Steph’s older brother growing up.He was a year ahead of me in school at Penn..One hell of a baseball player..was sure he had gone pro!! Sounds as if he did enjoy his life here…with those he loved and those who loved him. May all of our memories whatever time they were in his life and ours give us a smile, laughter and know he touched many lives.Life is short..do not put off telling someone you love them..none of us are promised tomorrow!! May God give you strength, comfort & a sense of peace in your heart that Mike is now playing ball with the King of Kings!

  • Mike was a nice guy. A great baseball player!! I remember one day as I was leaving school I had a flat tire in the William Penn parking lot and it was pouring rain. As Mike was running thru the parking lot, he saw me standing there stranded and he came over and changed my tire. He was soaking wet! I never knew him before that day. That was the day he introduced himself. To think he would change a strangers tire in the pouring ran speaks volumes!!! I will never forget him!!! Godspeed to Mike and prayers to his family and loved ones.. xoxo

  • I will always hold a place in my heart for the fond memories of the years at WmPenn class of 78. RIP prayers your your family during their time of loss.

  • I, along with many others, graduated with Mike in ’78 from WPHS. We had some classes together but I remember him most, as Jimmy said, from watching countless hours of Colonial and Stahl Post baseball games. Mike was a genuinely nice guy, always polite, always with a smile on his face. My most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. RIP, Mike.

  • Mike was a great friend and an incredible team mate. we shared tons of good times through out the years.
he may be gone but never forgotten. rest in peace Mike P. you will always be remembered.

  • My deepest sympathy goes out to Mike’s mom & family. Over the years, I had lost contact with Mike, but will never forget his great athletic ability, wisdom and friendship. Mike will always remain one of my forever friends.

    Rest in Peace

  • Lots of childhood memories that put a smile on my face as I think back now (baseball games, working at the gas station & my brief crush). So sad to hear the news. Rest in peace Mike. My condolences to the family, I love you all. <3

  • Mike has been a long-time friend of my family and I’m proud to consider him a friend and part of my life. I will always be grateful for the many favors he did for me, such as giving me summer employment at the Tackle Box and shutting his business phones down to call and secure me awesome seats at rock concerts. Mike, this life on earth is just a journey to your next one of eternal peace. And as Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin said “Meet me, Jesus, meet me in the middle of the air. If my wings should fail me Lord, please meet me with another pair.”

  • I would like to express my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences to Mike”s family on his passing. I was Mike’s high school varsity basketball coach at William Penn High School and it was my privilege and honor to coach Mike for 3 years. Mike was such a fine, wonderful, and coachable young man and I will always remember his dedication and his great sense of humor. I can hear Mike asking me questions as he would often enjoy “pulling my chain”! I also had the honor of coaching him on the Stahl Post Legion team and he was iindeed a great pitcher. I am sure Mike willl be missed by many but also remembered by many, many dear friends and teammates. God Bless Mike and his family….RIP Mike, you were such a good young man! Coach Don Aldinger…William Penn HS basketball coach 1974-80

  • I had the pleasure of working with Mike at the Hibbert Group. He was a great coworker. Always willing to help anyone for anything. I enjoyed talking baseball with him and listening to the stories of his college games. He will be missed.

  • I am heart broken to hear of Michael’s passing. We were Best Friends for many years, growing up on Bellamy Dr. in Carriage Run, New Castle. Mike was the “brother” I never had. We played baseball, had sleep overs, trick or treated together, raided the corn fields next to Pleasantville Elementary School, went fishing with his father, played games for hours and hours in our basements, got into trouble, liked the same girls at times, swam in his family’s pool until our skin was wrinkled. We would tease each other, mock each other, fight with each other and laugh until we cried. We would play Army for hours, into the night until our parent would make us come inside for bed.

Mike and I had made a “pact” when we were young. We promised that in 2012 we would re-unite, no matter where we were, and sail into the Bermuda Triangle. I searched for Michael throughout 2011 and was never able to locate him. My family still lives in Delaware and Maryland and I have visited them for years, passed by the Tackle Shop numerous times and never new he was there, the whole time.

Now, I live in Hawaii. I want so badly to come and pay my respects to Mike as he moves onto the next life. Sadly, it will not happen for me.

All that read my words, know this: Life is so precious, so short and we are given an opportunity to make the best of what we have, the cards we are dealt and the lives that we touch and touch ours. Don’t EVER waste a moment of it! Mike and I never did! I am proud to have had Michael as my Best Friend and will never forget him, as I know you will neither.

Rest in peace, my brother! Your presence will be missed but, the memories of you will never fade!
