Michael S. Halter, age 51, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2017.

A native Delawarean, Michael was born in Wilmington on March 24, 1966 and was the son of Melvin A. Halter and Anna Mae (Jones) Halter. He made his career at the Delaware State Hospital where he served as an industrial engineering supervisor.

An avid sports fan, Michael enjoyed collecting both baseball and football cards. He loved and adored his family and was truly happiest in their company. Above all else, Michael was a beloved son, brother and friend and will be very dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Halter. Michael is survived by his parents, Melvin and Anna Mae Halter, of Newark; brothers, John R. Halter of Newark and Matthew L. Halter of Elkton; and sister, Bonny L. Booth, of Bear.

  • I worked with Mike at DHCI. What a great person! Keeping you and him in my prayers. He will be truly missed by all. He was my supervisor on the weekends. So sorry for your loss.

  • Michael will truly be missed! He was a great guy and made a difference with individuals that had the privilege to know him. I will always remember Michael’s great personality. My fondest memories was how he was so supportive when someone was in need and not to mention how Sammy could get Michael to do what ever she wanted! This man certainly had a big heart for animals and they knew it! .

  • He was a great man and a great step father he raised me since i was 3 months old he was a great husband it sucks u and my mom where called home so soon and we just talked about coming to visit so u could meet ur grandson for the first time im sorry i never really got to tell u how much i appreciate all the things u did for my mom and brothers it takes a hell of a man to put up with us 3 boys and u did it with a smile everyday i love u pops may u and my mother rest in heaven.
