Nancy L. Warden

Nancy L. Warden, age 90, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018.

Born in Spartan, North Carolina on August 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James Lonnie Landreth and Lula Jane Irwin.  Upon graduation from Piney Creek High school she began working in Sparta beauty shop, but spent most of her career as a pre school teacher at Giant Step at the YMCA.  She also worked as a banquet server at Cavalier Country Club on the weekends with her friend Dolores and 2 years in the Christiana High School cafeteria.

Married in Bel Air, MD, she and Charles then moved to North Carolina.  They had their first child, Rick and then moved to Delaware.  Both daughters, Joy and Tammie were born in Delaware, where they stayed and raised their family.  Nancy loved her family and spending time with them.  She also loved doing crafts and working with her flowers.

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Warden.  She is survived by her son, Charles Richard Warden; daughters, Tammie Stremming (Troy) and Joy Fischer; grandchildren, Phillip Warden, Tim Warden, Lacey Debellis, Roxanne Porter (Tom); and great grandchildren, Cyann Warden, Celia and Mikey Debellis, Sophia and Frankie Porter.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 1 pm until 2 pm at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home, 789 Grandview Drive, Sparta, NC.  Funeral service will begin at 2 pm.  Interment will follow in Elk Creek Cemetery, 1966 NC Hwy 93, Sparta, NC.
