Naomi A. Wrightson
Mrs. Naomi A. Wrightson, age 94, of Wilmington Manor in New Castle, DE, died on Sunday, September 19, 2010, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Wilmington.
Mrs. Wrightson was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on October 23, 1915, daughter of the late Thomas Boulden, Sr. and Mary Fortner Boulden. She made her career as a professional butcher, retiring from Acme Market in Wilmington Manor after many years of service.
A talented artist throughout her life, she particularly enjoyed painting with watercolors and creating beautiful pieces in needlework and crochet. She also enjoyed working with ceramics and house painting with her beloved husband, James S. Wrightson, who died in 1994. Admired for her green thumb, she grew lovely flowers both in her home and her garden outside. She was an avid sports fan, as well, and looked forward each year to cheering for her favorite team, the Phillies.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 23, 2010, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Entombment will follow in the adjoining mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Ste. 302, Newark, DE 19713.
