Norma Jean (Foster) Smith, age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017.

Born in Crumpler, WV on March 25, 1935, Norma was a daughter of the late Lee and Gussie (Jones) Foster. She will be remembered as a loving and caring woman who never hesitated to help someone in need. Norma was a talented homemaker who enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for large family gatherings.

In her spare time, she could be found reading her bible, painting, or making beautiful floral arrangements.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe A. Smith; son, Joseph A. Smith; siblings, Joy Foster, Dorothy Morrison, Nancy Holly, and Frederick Foster; and her daughter-in-law, Roxanne D. Smith.  Norma is survived by her children, Byron A. Smith, Jonathan D. Smith (Diane), and James L. Smith (Amy);  siblings, Ruth Allen, Victoria Holly, William Foster, Linda Quigley, Richard Foster, and Deborah Foster; grandchildren, Daniel, Valerie, Rebecca, James, Ashley, Jonathan, and Dustin; and her great grandson, R.J.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 8:30 am until 9:30 am on Wednesday morning, December 6, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

    You are going to be missed so much. You were such a loving and caring lady. We had some fun times going to Delaware Park. Robert, Keith, and I love you. You are family to us. I’m going to miss your smile and friendship dearly. I know your at peace and not suffering. Until we meet again.
