Olice M. âBudâ Franklin
Mr. Olice M. Franklin, known fondly as Bud, age 95, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
Born in Spencer, IN, on December 27, 1915, son of the late Robert Franklin and Anna Hagood Franklin, Mr. Franklin proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. In civilian life, he owned and operated the former Bud Franklin Auto Sales in Spencer for many years.
Mr. Franklin was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star in Spencer and the Scottish Rite of the Indianapolis Valley. He was also a 60-year member of the American Legion. In his later years, he greatly enjoyed working part-time at the Acme Market in Suburban Plaza in Newark.
He is survived his beloved wife of 63 years, J. Joan Truax Franklin; daughter, Olicea J. Lorenz (Steve) of Cypress, TX; brother, E. William Franklin of Spencer, IN; grandson, Adam Protano; and step grandchildren, David Lorenz and Alyson Lorenz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 27, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, 292 W. Main Street, Newark, 19711, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Head of Christiana Cemetery, Nottingham Road, Newark.
