Olive M. Cotton
Mrs. Olive M. Cotton, age 87, of Bear, DE, formerly of The Villages, FL, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.
Born in Belmont, OH, on December 15, 1923, Mrs. Cotton was the daughter of the late Harry McFarland and Trella Perkins McFarland. She was employed during the late 1960s in the Acquisitions Department of the University of Delaware Library and later worked as a Deputy Clerk for Palm Beach County in Florida.
Mrs. Cotton proudly supported her husbands military career and was a longtime member of the Submarine Veterans of World War II Anchorettes. With her husband, she was also an antique car buff and a member of both the Heart of Florida Model A Club and The Villages Vintage Car Club.
A former parishioner of St. Georges Episcopal Church in The Villages, Mrs. Cotton attended Good Shepherd Episcopal Church with her family in Glasgow, DE.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Richard James Dick Cotton, in 2006. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy C. Berg (Dr. James) of Bear, DE, and Lynda C. Harper of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Ellen Gossett of Belmont, OH; and brother, Robert McFarland of Bethesda, OH; five grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Services will be held privately at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
