Born March 23, 1942

Patricia A. Poirier, age 71, of Newark, DE and formerly of Aston, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on March 23, 1942, Patricia was a daughter of the late Joseph Blackburn and Anna R. Joynes Blackburn. She made her career with GMP International Union, where she worked for many years until her retirement.

Patricia was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family R.C. Church and also a member of the Red Hat Society. Pat loved traveling and enjoyed spending time with friends in her walking group. She especially relished vacationing in Ocean City, MD with her family. Above all else, she was a devoted and loving mother, sister, and grandmother, who will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Dorothy Tiffany, Daniel Poirier (Shaphin), Patricia Jeandell (Mike), and Diane Stott (John); brother, Joseph Blackburn; sister, Nancy D’Imperio; 9 grandchildren, Andrew and April Tiffany, Phillip and Alicia Poirier, Valerie, Alex, and James Jeandell, and John and Michelle Stott.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE, where friends may call from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, S. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.

  • I am heartbroken by this sad news. Mommom was such a wonderful, caring person. I will never forget the precious times we all had together, especially Thanksgiving/Christmas 2008 and the family vacation 2011. In her loving way, she always made me feel like I really belong to this wonderful family. She will be sadly missed, but she’s in a better place now.

  • My Aunt Pat was the most beautiful person. She was always smiling, her laugh could be heard whenever she was around and she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. I will truly miss her presence when I come home for a visit. She is now with God in his loving arms.
