Patricia Ann Sutton, age 74, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

Born in Wilmington, DE on December 8, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Milton Cotton Dowell and Clara Pat Marie (Choate) Strickland.  Pat dedicated her life to her family as a talented and loving homemaker.

Pat enjoyed listening to music and singing.  She loved the beach and being with her family.  She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and dear friend.

Pat is survived by her husband, James F. Sutton; son, J. Brian Sutton  (Vanya) of Kansas City, MO; sister, Jane Carlson (Rich) of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, Alexander, Kalista and George; sister in-law, Joyce; niece, Cristie; and many loving cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10 am. Interment will be held privately in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

  • Always brought a radiance to a room. A special lady and will be sorely missed by all. Her legacy exists in her son Brian and his fine family. What a wonderful testament.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Patty’s passing. Before his own death in 2012, my father, Warren Flora, always enjoyed talking with her and reminiscing over family memories. Thankful she went peacefully. We will be lifting prayers for the family.

    I am so thankful for the many great memories I hold from my childhood with Patty, Janie, Uncle Milton & Aunt Clara. Patty was there for me when John and I got married and she continued to be a wealth of knowledge as we grew older together keeping me posted about our extended family.
