Patricia Gay Lynch

Mrs. Patricia Gay Lynch, age 75, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at her home.

Mrs. Lynch was born in Big Four, WV, on May 14, 1936, daughter of the late Eltrue Gordon and Laura Scarberry. A talented and creative homemaker, she was also employed as a clerk at Manor Pharmacy in New Castle, where she retired after 35 years.

Active in her community, Mrs. Lynch was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, where she was a religious education teacher for many years and a former member of the BVM Sodality. She was also a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Joseph B. Stahl Post #30, American Legion, in New Castle and had served as the secretary of the Manor Park / Leedom Estates Civic Association.

In her leisure hours, she delighted in both vegetable and flower gardening around her home; she was well-known and admired for the exceptionally beautiful clematis she grew each year.

A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed, Mrs. Lynch is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, James V. Lynch, Jr.; children, James V. Lynch III (Ingrid) of Wilmington, Paula Anne Lombardi of New Castle, Michelle M. Bennett (Carl) of Dagsboro, Timothy M. Lynch, Sr. of Ocean View, and Venetia Brand (Fred) of Princeton, WV; brother, Rodney Gordon (Sue) of Charleston, SC; sisters, Sandra Hilton of Salem, VA, Sylvia Hall of Welch, WV, Audrey Goins (Sam) of Anawalt, WV, and Caroline Mitchum (Donald) of Pageton, WV; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Gordon, and brothers, Jerry Gordon and Richard Gordon.

Visitation will be held from 11 am to 12 noon on Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
