Patricia M. Harrison, age 81, lifelong resident of Delaware City, DE, passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Pat was born in Honolulu, HI on August 23, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Gertrude (Corbit) McConnell. She was a graduate of Delaware City High School and St. Francis Hospital Medical Lab School. A career lab technician for 50 years, Pat was employed by the former New Castle Laboratory and Lab Corp, Inc.

Active in her community, Pat served as Mayor of Delaware City for 12 years and also served as a Councilwoman. She was a member of the Delaware City American Legion Auxiliary Post 13, the Delaware City Recreation Club, the Red Hatters, and the Tripoli Club. A woman of strong faith, Pat was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Delaware City. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and aunt and was an adoring grandmother. Pat touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Robert E. Harrison, Sr.; sisters, Marie Eileen (Encee) McConnell, Dorothy Press, and Virginia Lovett; and by her aunt and uncle, Lucy C. and Tex Miller, and uncles, George M. Corbit and Father Joseph A. Corbit, all of whom raised her. She is survived by her children, Robert (Sudzy) E. Harrison, Jr. (Melissa), Mark J. Harrison, Maryann H. Kirk (Jack), and Sharon H. Sutton (Scott); brother, George D. McConnell; sisters-in-law, Rosanne H. Hart and Doris Lee Harrison; and grandchildren, John F. Kirk IV, Ethan H. Kirk, Meredith L. Harrison, Emily S. Harrison, Maria A. Sutton, and Scott H. Sutton, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am on Thursday morning, November 9, 2017, at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Interment will follow in New St. Paul’s Cemetery, Delaware City, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s R.C. Church, P.O. Box 544, Delaware City, DE 19706 or to the Delaware City Fire Company, P.O. Box 251, Delaware City, DE 19706.
