Patricia M. Jarvis Stuber - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Patricia M. Jarvis Stuber

Born January 22, 1932

Patricia (Pat) M. Stuber, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2013 with her children by her side.

Pat was born on January 22, 1932, in London, England, to the late Stanley Jarvis and Isabel Jones Jarvis. After marrying an American serviceman in 1954 and subsequently moving with him and their 2 small children to his hometown of Wilmington, DE in 1958, she adapted well to her new surroundings. However, Pat always stayed true to her British heritage¦ALWAYS a cup of tea to start the day! Pat’s love of children led her to volunteer with the Children’s Bureau as a foster mother and later as a playground leader. She and her then-husband were foster parents to 13 children in the 1960’s. A stay-at-home mother for many years while her own children were young, Pat eventually worked outside the home in later years doing clerical work and finally retired from Caldor as their telephone operator with the English accent. Pat was an avid reader, wonderful seamstress, enjoyed crafts and ceramics, and particularly loved watching Brit-coms on PBS.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her former husband, William Stuber and by her daughter, Lee Southers. She is survived by her children, Warren Stuber of Wilmington; daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Gary Guseman of Middletown; brother, Walter Jarvis of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Alissa, Jonathan, Kelly, and Hayden; 5 great grandchildren; many caring friends and neighbors; and beloved rescue cat, Becky.

True to Pat’s intensely personal nature, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
