Phillip C. Ludwigsen, age 65, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2016.

Phillip was born in Salem County, NJ on November 21, 1950, and was a son of the late William and Ethel (Allen) Ludwigsen. He worked for many years as a frozen food manager for Pathmark.

Well known by friends and family as an outgoing, positive person, Phillip truly enjoyed life. He was a giving man, who was happiest caring for others and was instrumental in watching over his parents in their later years. An avid gardener, Phillip looked forward to tending to his tomatoes, peppers and string beans each season. He was an excellent cook and a self-proclaimed adventurist in the kitchen. In his leisure time, Phillip enjoyed visiting the Jersey Shore and fishing. A devoted and loving companion, brother, family man and friend, he will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Lucy Ludwigsen. He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Ludwigsen of New Castle; siblings, William D. Ludwigsen (Lynn) of Gatlinburg, TN, Shirley A. Bannan (Robert) of Greenwood, DE and Jeanette L. Hancock of New Castle; lifetime companion, Eileen Reeves; grandchildren, Haley, Anthony and Curtis; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday morning, February 18, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Lawnside Cemetery, 1017 Route 40, Pilesgrove, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phillip’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Ste. 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
