Phoebe B. Callahan

Phoebe B. Callahan of Wilmington, DE, passed peacefully from this world on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the age of 90.
A resident of The Antonian in Wilmington, Phoebe was born May 13, 1923 in The Cedars, Mill Creek Hundred. She had been a long-time active member of Christ Our King Church in Wilmington and served several terms as president of the Diocesan Mothers Guild. She worked for the Wilmington Public School System and retired to Lewes, Delaware, prior to her current residency.
Phoebe was the loving mother of eight children and was preceded in death by her daughter, Phoebe Ann; son, Francis X.; and her husband, Arthur B. Callahan. She is survived by her daughter, Helen M. and sons Arthur B. II, George L. and his wife, Carolyn; Michael P., James E. and his wife Eileen, and Joseph M. and his wife Robin. She had twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 28th & Monroe Streets, Wilmington, DE, where friends may call from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Senior Center, 1703 W. 10th Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
